How To Play Destiny Offline Xbox One

Hi Stephen Bloch,

Please be advised games like Destiny or others that require always-on internet will not be available offline, this can include multiplayer games with campaigns too if the developer wanted it to be online always. Also if your Xbox isn't set as your home Xbox, you need an online connection to confirm you own those games. Also any game on game pass or Games With Gold cannot be played offline as you do not actually own those games only rent them.

most games require internet connection to download / update etc

and if the game is online based to play that will require constant internet connection.

I cant think of any of my games that are digital that work offline. The only ones that work offline for me are the ones I have the disk to and then some of them dont either.

I have my Xbox One X set as my home Xbox but I still can't play any of my downloaded or digital games off-line.

Do you have any example games that you can share with us, where you are having a problem?

Yes, I realize that but, I have several downloaded games that I bought and paid for that are not online multiplayer or normally require an internet connection to play. In fact I was playing them all offline (including the Game Pass games) until recently when I transferred everything to a new external HD that I got for Xmas.

The only exception is the digital copy of Jedi the Last Order that came with the new Xbox One X I bought last month to replace my day one Xbox that was getting ready to **** out. For some reason I can still play that.

Hi Stephen,

There are a number of games that require some sort of internet connection to play. Games such as destiny, Grand theft auto Online.

You have to switch the console to Offline mode to ensure it still works when you have no internet connection otherwise it will continue to try and connect and fail.

If you haven't tried that already.

Depending on the game if it requires internet which some do nowadays due to updates and etc it wont be able to be played until you have an internet connection

Hello, I read your post, and I believe I understand your situation. The Xbox Ambassadors are here to help.

If I understand your situation correctly, you're attempting to play all digital forms without internet, correct?

I'm pretty sure this is not possible, due to the fact that digital form is basically an online library, where as you can access it. Hence the name, all-digital. There are still games as mentioned by another Xbox Ambassador like destiny 2, fortnite, and Apex legends, which can never be played without internet. The only way I've been able to find a play my Xbox one games offline, is after the initial download, and with a disk game. Also be advised some games you will not have access to all features without internet, some such as saving. However, I do know a kid that took his Xbox one s to the public library, plugged it into the internet to do the initial download with his disc game, then went home to play it without internet.

Like stated in another post above you would need to put your console into offline mode to allow this.

Also like stated above there are games that are only online games like destiny 2 and fortnite and games like that, these will not work while in offline mode.
